Dr. Nandini Kannan urges SRMIST students never to stop doing research on Research Day

Around 146 researchers received medals during the Research Day held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur. The main guest of the event, Dr. Nandini Kannan, Executive Director of the Indo-American Forum on Science and Technology, paid tribute to the researchers and released the abstract CD on this occasion.

Attending the occasion were SRMIST Vice Chancellor Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, Dr. Pro VC (Medical), Lt. Col. A. Ravikumar, Registrar Dr. S. Ponnusamy, COE Dr. K. Gunasekaran, d other directors and deans.

Among the honorees was Dr. Satyajit Mohapatra of SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center (SRM MCH&RC) who provided funding of 1.6 crores. Dr. Satyajit was also the principal investigator of the COVAXIN trial held at SRM MCH&RC. The hospital recently opened a 5,000 square foot high-tech research faculty called the “SRM Center for Clinical Trials and Research”.

In his speech, Dr Nandini Kannan said, “Science and technology should be used to bridge the gap in society, including climate change. She encouraged students to undertake international collaborations. “Global challenges call for global collaborations and partnerships, bringing together the best and brightest scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs to work together.”

She explained that such collaboration will provide access to unique perspectives and approaches, leverage limited resources and infrastructure, share ideas and knowledge, and ultimately create new networks and workforce. engaged globally.

She said the new National Education Policy encourages international students to study in India, it also provides greater mobility for Indian students to visit, study, transfer credits or conduct research at overseas institutions. “It also facilitates research/teaching collaborations and faculty/student exchanges with top international institutions, it also encourages high performing Indian universities to set up campuses in other countries.”
